Are you finding the wedding planning process a bit too stressful? Have you turned into the bridezilla you never wanted to be, or did you simply underestimate how much work (and diplomatic walking on egg shells) you would be doing?
Well, relax! It's perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed as your wedding day approaches, and there are simple ways to ease your anxiety. All you need is our friendly survival guide...
Stressed about dress fittings?
Not only has your life turned into one big 'to do' list, but you also have the pressure of the forthcoming dress fitting. If you're trying to lose a few pounds before the final fitting, or if there's a detail on the dress that's playing on your mind you need to share your woes.
If it's a weight issue then enlist a friend to go on walks with for 30 minutes a day and promise yourself you will see it as opportunity to talk about everything other than the wedding!
You are bound to want to treat yourself to a few choccies, and the hen do will put pounds on you, but if you do at least 30 minutes of exercise every day you will not only feel more energetic but you will get that much needed head space.
Are you worried that you haven't reminded your dress shop about a detail that is important to you? Ring them. Don't feel shy or leave anything to the last minute. Just give the shop or dress fitter a call and they will understand that it is your big day and you just want to put your mind at ease.
Stressed about guests?
Are you finding finalising your table plan more of a political minefield than you ever imagined?
The most important thing is don't leave this until the last minute. Get it straight in your head at least a week beforehand and give yourself time to speak to anyone that is involved.
You might have to split up groups of friends to establsih a more even demographic around a table, or you might want to put kids on a seperate table. Simply ask advice from your partner, wedding venue or the friends in question and explain your dilemas.
Once you're sat in a room with all your friends around you, you honestly wont worry about a thing...and you're friends or family wont either.
Look after yourself
Yes, it's boring and you've heard it before, but eating healthily and plenty of sleep and relaxation can help you cope.
We suggest you:
- Eat carbohydrate-rich foods, such as fruit, wholemeal bread and wholegrain cereals, little and often to keep your blood-sugar level stable.
- Eat breakfast - studies show it really does help to reduce stress.
- Take a multivitamin plus 2g of vitamin C and 150-300mg of magnesium each.
- Cut down caffeine - too much can make you feel nervy.
