There have definitely seen some strong wedding trends to come out of 2009, and we predict the following list will play a big part in the north west weddings of 2010.
1. Smaller guest lists for a more intimate affair.
Small wedding venues and intimate country pubs are definitely in favour.
Many large hotels also have lovely small rooms that can bring your guests closer together, without compromising on the grand atomsphere that a wedding in a manor house would offer.
2. Outdoor venues that allow for a more personal touch
Backyards, cottages, lakeside, marquees in local fields, barns decorated by yourself
3. Going all out in the details
Smaller weddings and stricter budgets have meant that couples are assessing what is most important to them, and often it is the details that mean the most to them.
Quality is being chosen over quantity when it comes to food, wine, wedding decorations and stationery.
4. Glam, glam, glam
from birdcage veils to rhinestone napkin rings.
5. Black and white
never out but moving back to the forefront.
6. "Green" weddings continuing with its upward movement. This means thinking about the environmental impact that your wedding might have, including keeping travel to a minimum, using locally sourced food, buying a previously-loved wedding dresses and more.... read our eco-friendly wedding guide here
7. Fake Cake
Out with the traditional wedding cake, make room for the cupcakes and the pies.
8. Strapless wedding gowns
with a focus on the accessories - think flower garland head bands, feathers and jewels in the hair, dramatic earrings and necklaces with bling.
9. Favours
that are meaningful whether they honour the couple's heritage or they were made with a personal touch.
We love the idea of homemade jam... personalised compliation CDs ... signature cupcakes ... ditch the sugared almonds and go meaningful mad.
10. First Dances that stop the crowd
Strictly Come Dancing first dances and dancefloor surprises.
