If you don't know where to start with your floral arrangements, here are some tips to get you on your way.
Buttonholes.
Traditionally buttonholes are worn by all male members of the wedding party, which means at least the groom, best man, father of the bride, father of the groom and any ushers.
For more casual weddings these are great to wear to bring a colour theme together, without specifying that all core male members of the wedding have to wear the same suit or tie.
Bridesmaids.
Older bridesmaids tend to carry a smaller, reduced version of the bridal bouquet, however with younger bridesmaids you may want to consider giving them a pomander or a basket of petals, or a clutch bag with flowers attached.
Venue Flowers
For church weddings, they may be happy to arrange flowers free of charge, if so give them some tips on your colour scheme. It may also be worth checking if there any other wedding happening on the same day, and if so the cost of alter and pew flowers might be able to be shared, with them ultimately being donated to the church at the end of the day.
With other venues, the floral arrangements may be part of the hire package.
Centrepieces.
You can go as wild or as subtle as you like with flowers at the reception. Some brides go for eveything from floral arches to topiary sculptures. Generally guests will expect to see floral centrepieces on the table and an eloborate arrangement at the entrance to the venue.
Our tip - A part of the ushers job could be to collect floral arrangements after the service at the church and transport them to your reception venue. This is not only cost effective, but add to the occasion in larger venues.
See our guide to centrepieces for more inspiration.
