where are we?
Blackburn is a large town in Lancashire, England. It lies to the north of the West Pennine Moors on the southern edge of the Ribble Valley, east of the city of Preston, and north-northwest of Manchester. The town is bounded on other sides by smaller towns, including Accrington to the east and Darwen to the south. Other nearby villages are Langho, approximately 1.2 miles further to the north-east, and Mellor to the north west of Blackburn. The small towns of Rishton, to the east, and Great Harwood, to the north east, are often considered extended suburbs of Blackburn.
Located in the midst of the East Lancashire Hills, some areas of the town are characterised by steep slopes. Being nestled within these impressive hills is part of the reason why people love living there and enjoying getting married in Blackburn.
The River Blakewater flows down through the areas of Whitebirk, Little Harwood, Cob Wall and Brookhouse to the town centre, before joining the River Darwen outside Witton Country Park and continuing on to join the River Ribble at Walton-le-Dale.
This stream makes a great setting for picturesque riverside wedding venues such as Northcote Country House Hotel and Mytton Fold Hotel

The tradition of creating handmade materials has never left the town, and many creative services can be still be found here, not just for weddings. Blackburn and the town centre in particular has seen significant investment and redevelopment in the past 15 years.
The town centre is currently subject to a new multi-million pound investment, and Blackburn with Darwen Council have already made some refurbishments and renovations of key public places, notably the Church Street area with its Grade II listed art deco Waterloo Pavilions complemented by street furniture and sculptures.
